A very fine George II-style carved walnut footstool from the 19th century with a drop-in upholstered seat.
Raised on four cabriole legs with carved acanthus scrolls, ending in wonderfully detailed carved claw and ball feet.
A very versatile large piece - use it to rest your feet on, put a drinks tray or books on, or sit at a piano or dressing table.
Or just sit and admire those claws!
Condition:
Excellent, very solid, ready to use.
Very clean underneath - no repairs etc.
Some minor wear and tear as expected for a piece this old that add to the wonderful patina - see the photos for details.
Later upholstered seat.
