An untouched 19th-century Irish vernacular sugan (Irish for rope) chair.

A very comfortable chair with a low seat, wide at the front, narrowing to the back - typical ergonomics of a spinner's chair or hearth chair.

Mostly made from ash with visible through-wedges and pegged joints.

Wonderful weathered original rustic colour and patina.

Absolutely rock solid with no movement. Missing a front rail. Some old rubber added to the bottom surface of the back two legs. Historic woodworm holes that I treated heavily anyway. See photos for more details.

Overall height: 78.5cm
Width between top of front legs: 40cm
Overall width: 49cm
Seat height: 39cm
Seat depth: 39cm
