Georgian oak and mahogany Chippendale-style hall or dining chair with great patina.
The back splat is mahogany while the rest looks like oak.
Wonderful carved and pierced back splat and eye-catching corner scrolls at the top.
Splayed back legs and squared front legs with chamfered corners.
Peg-jointed legs united by 'H'stretchers.
Very sturdy in structure, with no loose joints and free from woodworm.
Very clean underneath showing old large screws with off-centre heads.
Old slight crack at top of front right leg (see photos).
Small bit missing from top of back splat (see photos).
Probably originally had an upholstered drop-in seat which at some early point in its long life has been replaced with wood (still very old though with great patina, slightly lighter than rest of chair).
A handsome piece that would look good as a side chair, side table or in the kitchen.
Width at the front of the seat: 53cm
Height to top of back: 97.5cm
Height to seat: 46cm
